Mountain Top Seeds History
Howard of Mountain Top Seeds, “I was born in Oakland and grew up all over Northern California. My journey with cannabis began as a kid in the Mendocino Hills, where I secretly followed my dad and his friends as they tended their gorilla crops. I’ll never forget their excitement come fall, and the joy they found in their gardens.
The passage of Prop 215 during my high school years in the east Bay fueled my bond with the plant. We used to send our older friends to BPCF on Telegraph to get us “the jar of weed with the Chinese symbols”. The explosion of the medical scene introduced me to new flavors and experiences that ignited my interest in cannabis.
At 18, l moved to the Sierras and had my first exposure to growing large plants under full sun. This experience then led me to work with a friend on very large full sun outdoor and greenhouse gardens. Our farm was eventually forced to quit, but this setback opened up new opportunities. A few years later, I found myself in the heart of cannabis cultivation, Island Mountain of southern Humboldt County. There I was part of a team doing large outdoor, high grade commercial production. I was also being introduced to seed breeding. With mentors and peers, I started doing selections, testing and R&D work. This laid the framework for award-winning genetics.
For a handful of years, while caretaking for my elderly grandmother in the Sierra Nevadas, I managed 99 count ‘big plant’ gardens in Butte county. I eventually returned to the Emerald Triangle, doing large scale mixed light flower production as well as large scale seed production and breeding work. In 2020 I began making my own seed lines, using my experiences to guide me.
I started Mountain Top Seeds as a passion project, to bring what I hope will be quality genetics to market for both the home grow and commercial applications.
All mountain top seed are made by me and not made by a third party. They are all picked, sorted, sifted, cleaned etc by me alone which allows high level quality control over my products. I keep all my stock (as well as my complete library) in a climate controlled environment.

Mountain Top Seeds Vision
Many companies when using plants grown from seed as receivers to make their stock (instead of cuttings as the pollen receiver) will keep all pollinated seed bearing plants and their respective seed and bring all of those seed to market, Regardless if ALL the seed bearing plants were quality/high grade. I do the opposite where if I pollinate plants grown from seed and they aren’t extremely high grade, then those plants are composted and the seed destroyed.
My goal is to be always moving forward towards higher quality in all the plants growth characteristics.
