Athene (ASK ll) x G-NUT
Athene is a variety I have been working with since the beginning.
She dates back to seeds I collected from some stand out flowers in 96. In 98 started several of my favorite seeds. They didn’t have names, so I labeled each one with different greek goddesses. Athene has always been a special goddess to me and so was the plant that shared her name. The selection was truly stunning and vigorous. She grew fast with beautiful large leaves that were long and broad at the same time. A true hybrid structure with gorgeous flowers encrusted with particularly large trichomes.
I crossed her with bubba kush and in 2003 made a selection called Athene Kush. This selection was grown quite a bit in Humboldt both because of the quality and effect of the flowers and the fact she was extremely resistant to powdery mildew and rot.
In 2010 I crossed her with BOG’s sour bubble and grew out several glorious plants and pollenated some with atomic kush.
In 2013 I made two selections from this group that both tested above 29% (which was higher then the lab had ever seen at that point).
I labeled them ASK I and ASK II for short. ASK II ended up winning out as the keeper and I continued working with her and made many new crosses like Voltron and Athene DOG.
I was always stuck by her beauty and powerful effects, but when I started working with Simp.Lee.Adam in 2014 and got to experience her as fresh frozen full melt it was life changing.
Seeing the incredibly clean heads melt into golden oil with no residue was jaw dropping. And then to taste the lemon butter pepper that felt like a boot to the head from the goddess herself (in the best way) made me so happy.
Last year I wanted to continue the journey of hash quality and crossed her with G-NUT (Hazelnut Cream x G-MOB 392 x G-MOB BC1) male selection.
Look for fast growing vigorous resistant plants with large trichome heads and amazing hash qualities with a creamy peppery lemon butter pastry flavor with some added funk
I am really excited to see talented farmers and hash makers continue this journey with this beautiful goddess I so love.
