GrapeLimeSkunkBackcross Lime1XGrapeSodaSkunkF1XF2
Created around 2015 when Gene made Lime1 x GrapeSodaSkunkF5 or F6, the initial thought was that some weird fruit punch stuff would fly out and that the potency of the Lime would complement the relatively lower potency of the GSS. A highly unique standout selection (“really pretty” and “like a little oak tree”) was made from about 100 plants from this cross and this phenotype was taken forward and used with subsequent males that were selected to resemble that particular female throw.
With a chocolatey / grapey / skunky deep Afhgani nose they grow consistently stout with broad leaves and thick stems. These plants are super slow growing with super small stretch and produce chunky, old-school buds that will remind you of a bag you got at some point from the 80s or 90s.
It wasn’t specifically tested for it but these are likely to have minor cannabinoid rich varietals in them as well being passed down from the GrapeSodaSkunk.
This is a milder cultivar that is for those that want a true Freeborn creation that has many of the foundational strains in it that aren’t in other plants you can find. “Primordial looking… similar to Deep Chunk” with outstanding growth characteristics it is a “A really cool breed…. a piece of re-worked history that is totally new and different.” that anyone can enjoy.
“As sturdy as can be” it’s been battle-tested in harsh light-dep conditions, and it can definitely be used as part of a breeding project for many reasons.
Tune into the ASG YouTube channel, Alpine Seed Group, to hear the completely detailed story of the GrapeLimeSkunk Backcross from Gene himself.
This backcross has the classic extreme Afghan plants with the upright structure (that takes forever to branch) mixed with plants that have a little more branching from the Lime side.
They are PM resistant and skunky with some fruit.
These are real special plants with unique flavors–squat plants that hold their weight (albeit at a more slow-growing pace).
Perfect for real plant enthusiasts or nostalgia hunters who want to try something different than everything else available.
Lots of potential as a building block in a breeding program (hint!) – these are amazing, sturdy plants.
